What membership means
     World Pantheism welcomes any pantheist who wishes to frequent our free email lists and forums on the Internet. These include our bulletin board at Ezboard, our generic list Pantheist Spirituality, our Introductory list where you can ask questions of WPM old hands, and our many local lists for US states and other countries. We also promote Pantheist Meetup to facilitate local gatherings.
     To maintain and expand our activities, and to inform the public about pantheism, we rely entirely on contributions from sympathetic supporters. These contributions enable payment of Web hosting costs, bank fees, printing of informational leaflets and magazines, and informational advertizing to spread knowledge of pantheism. In addition we directly sponsor the preservation of wildlife habitat through paid ads at EcologyFund's Save Land scheme.
     Subscribing membership is primarily an expression of solidarity and support for what we are trying to do. We are living in a world where politics and security are dominated by religious fundamentalisms, and where our precious natural environment is threatened by thoughtless over-exploitation.
     If you believe it's worthwhile to promote a rational, satisfying and ethically modern alternative to traditional supernatural religions - if you would like to help promote a spiritual approach that values Nature, science and human rights rather than life after death, threats of hellfire and the ethics and myths of past millennnia - then we hope you will join us.
     Supporting members receive additional benefits in addition to our free services. These include membership in our idea-shaping and sharing forum the Ideas list, and our practice-shaping and sharing forum, the Community list. They include the right to vote for our Membership Advisory Council, which represents members' interests. They include access to the members' database to find pantheists close to them. The reason we reserve these areas for supporting members is that participation in forming the future of World Pantheism demands at least some expression of commitment. Full members (starting at a support level of $12 for low income people) also get their own hard copy of the magazine.
        The WPM is a non-profit corporation registered in the State of Colorado.
We are recognized as a charity by the IRS under clause 501(c)3, so if you are a US resident
your contributions are tax-deductible. You can view our official documents here.

We have three major categories of membership:

FULL MEMBERS ($30 basic, $12 student & low income) get the following benefits:

Full access to all our member mailing lists and bulletin boards, including facilities for chat, calendar, vault for uploading files, and so on.
Our periodical hard-copy magazine PAN, with articles about practice, science, environment, almanac, links, info on meetings and so on. See sample issues of the magazine, which also give a good idea of our scope and outlook.
Access to our geographical database through which you can find pantheists near you. [For privacy and security reasons, this is not open to non-members to view].
Participation in the core forums that influence the directions of World Pantheism.
The right to vote in elections for the Membership Advisory Council.
Free e-mail forwarding addresses, eg: yourname@pantheism.net
The right to add to our members' photo gallery, for photos of people, meets, art etc.

The basic full annual membership is $30 (UK: Ł20). Student full membership and low income membership are only $12 (Ł8) per year. There are higher level donating memberships, including family membership ($60/Ł40) and life membership (a single subscription of $700/Ł450).

INTERMEDIATE MEMBERS ($8/Ł5) get the following benefits:

Full access to all our member mailing lists and bulletin boards, including facilities for chat, calendar, vault for uploading files, databases of recommended books, links, and so on.
The right to add to our members' photo gallery, for photos of people, meets, art etc.
Free e-mail forwarding addresses, eg: yourname@pantheism.net
Access to our geographical database through which you can find fellow spirits near you.

FREE MEMBERS get the following benefits:

Access to the Pantheist_Spirituality, Pantheism_Intro, UU-Pantheists lists, and the World Pantheism bulletin board.
Access to all local and regional lists.
The right to attend local meetings and the opportunity to be invited to local meetings.

EXPLANATION OF THE TIERS
      The World Pantheist Movement does not charge anyone to be a pantheist, or to access most of the forums we provide for pantheists to communicate with one another.
      The membership dues are not "charges," they are primarily an expression of moral and material support for what we do and for improving and expanding what we do.
      We always listen to all opinions with respect, but we believe that people who want to have a say in the directions and actions of World Pantheism should express a minimum level of commitment. Similarly, we believe that access to the geographical database requires a certain minimum of commitment, since members need to be able to have confidence that outsiders will not abuse the database.
       Pan magazine is an extra cost item, which is relatively costly to print and mail out. Hence the magazine-level memberships start at the level (student and low-income)which just barely covers that cost and no more.
       The full member categories are the people who keep World Pantheism going and growing.

We suggest that you check our belief statement before joining. It is not compulsory, you don't have to learn it or recite it, it was written by fallible humans - but it is a good guide to what we are about. We like to think of it as the notice on our door.
