The following FAQ deals with most problems encountered
with the scientific pantheism pages.
They mostly relate to the choice of background image and white text.
There are very good reasons for these choices - the image is
a strong part of the message. Unfortunately, images of the universe are mostly black with
brighter splodges. I do my best to modify them where text is going over the bright
bits,
and I make sure that it is always possible to make out the text.
Also if you want text to read on a black background, you have to use white text.
But there are simple solutions to printing/viewing
problems.
They can easily be dealt with by altering the settings you have chosen for your own
browser's printing or viewing
options.
Netscape commands described below are in brackets. Other browsers have
similar commands.
People who really can't read the text can try the following:
1. Reload page without images (Options/Autoload Images/Off ie, not
ticked). Also delete the contents of your browser's memory and disk
caches [Options/Network Preferences]
2. You may have set your own preferences for colours etc
to override
others. Go to Options/General Preferences/Colours
and make sure you have NOT checked the box "Always use my colours."
If so, uncheck it.
3. In your browser window, go to File/Page Setup [in Netscape] or Print
Setup. Click on the box saying you want Black text.
4. If this doesn't work, try turning images off, and
reload the page
without images (as in 1. above). This should give you black text on white
or grey (if that's what your default options are set to, if not change
them - as in 2. above). Then print.
5. Or save the page to disc as a *.txt file (if you don't
want HTML
codes) [File/Save As/] Then import it into your word processor. And print
from there.
6. If all else fails, FTP to my site by entering the
following in your
location box:
ftp://members.aol.com/Heraklit1/
or
ftp://members.aol.com/pantheism0/
and retrieve the file by right-clicking on it, and choosing a directory
and a file name to save it under.
This will contain the HTML codes, but you can remove these if you need to.
