Regular astronomical events underline the cycle of our connection with the solar system
as members of a larger universe. Pantheists and pagans like to celebrate these events.
For many people, simply marking the day is sufficient - but an extra level of inner intensity
can be gained by observing the exact time. This almanac provides the exact timing
for many of these events.
All times are given in Universal Time [Greenwich Mean Time]. This is, eg, five hours
ahead of standard time in New York, eight hours ahead of San Francisco, two hours behind
Johannesburg, ten hours behind Sydney. Adjustments must be made for daylight saving times -
please check out your local arrangements.

Principal Meteor Showers

Meteors are tiny fragments of comet and asteroid, which enter the earth's atmosphere as the earth crosses the orbit of the parent body which left them behind as debris, and burn up in a spectacular light show. The showers are best observed from rural areas without street lighting.
